Creation And Endowment
         When God created man, He endowed man with dominion. That dominion is the omnipotence of God given to man. That shows greatness of God’s love for man. “28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth." Genesis 1:28 No king would like his son to be inferior quality. Instead, the king bestows love, power and authority on his son, so that the son wields the glory of his father.
         The power and authority of God which was given to man are expressed by will power, thought, word and action. Because many cannot easily understand the thought of others by telepathy, word became the common medium of expression. Hence, the word of a man has potency – power and effectiveness.

Meaning Of Potency
         The online book, Dictionary.com, explains potency as:
  1. The state or quality of being powerful. Your word is powerful.
  2. Power and authority. Your word has power and authority.
  3. Efficacy, effectiveness and strength. Your word has efficacy, effectiveness and strength. (Strength means lasting power.)
  4. Capacity to be, become, manifest or develop. Your word has the capacity to become manifest, the ability to develop into full manifestation.
  5. Potentiality – a possible expression. Your word is an expression, not in vain.
  6. Something or person exercising power or influence. Your word exercises power, influence or control over your life.
Dominion In Demonstration
         In other words, man has the power and authority to control the events and forces of nature. Recently, I discovered a family where the members are able to control rainfall. They can start or stop rain, just by the word of their mouth. One would command rain to start; another would shift the rain away from their town, to fall over another town; a third would say, “No, I am going to that town now. Rain, shift to so so place.” And so it happens. At times, when it is about to rain, one of them would just command the rain saying, “Rain, do not fall now. You can fall at night.” And it happens.
         One day, I was staying with one of the members of the family. That day, it was raining. Suddenly, he said, "Rain, it is enough." And immediately, the rain stopped.

Miracle Wand
         People do not that the word of mouth is their miracle wand. A wand is something you send out to do something for you, and it goes out and accomplishes the command. If a boy with a miracle wand sees a bird he likes flying across the sky, he simply throws his wand at the bird. The wand moves to the bird, touches the bird and carries the bird down into the boy’s hand. Truly, God has placed in your hand this wand. Do not use it for selfish reasons.

You Determine Much Of Your Destiny
         Most of the times, you hear people say, “I shall become what God destined me to be.” What they say is good and true. However, they fail to understand that God has given them the word of mouth to speak into reality whatever they want. And that is exactly what many are busy doing everyday. The real problem is that majority are using their word of mouth to pull down, to tear down and to destroy their destinies, instead of using their word of mouth to build up, to empower and to prosper them selves. They do this by:
  1. Saying all kinds of bad things. The words of mouth are the seeds of reality sown for eventual manifestation.
  2. Gossiping. Gossiping about others is the same as sown bad seeds in one’s life, and
  3. Engaging in useless chatter. Vulgar and useless words dissipate the potency, just as a smoke is dispersed by wind.
God Explained It
         God made this clear in the book of Isaiah:

10 "For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven,
And do not return there,
But water the earth,
And make it bring forth and bud,
That it may give seed to the sower
And bread to the eater,
11 So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth;
It shall not return to Me void,
But it shall accomplish what I please,
And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.
Isaiah 55:10-11

Why?
         You may ask, “Why is it that people do not know that there is potency in their spoken words?” The answer is simple. The realities of life manifest by creation and evolution. Both creation and evolution are true. They are the two sides of the same coin. God creates by speaking. Then the spoken word takes time to evolve. Religion claims that God created the world by speech, while science claims that world came into existence by evolution. Religion and science, each is half true in its claim. The complete truth is that both creation and evolution are true. Evolution is the long process of creation.
         People do not know that they have this power in spoken word, and they continue to neglect this fact, because their words take time to evovle (come into manifestation).

As You Make Your Bed
         Henceforth, know that much of your destiny is determined by yourself. Speak only what is good. “…” Job xyz As you make your bed, so you ly on it.

Avoid UsingYour Powers For Selfish Reasons
         Be warned! Do not use your powers for selfish reasons. Selfishness makes a person to be spiritually blind and to fall backwards in spiritual growth. That is dangerous. Allow the events of life to happen as God has ordained them. Be warned!
         Indeed, it is better to remain silent than to utter vulgar and useless words.

Do Not Allow Your Mouth To Be Destructive
         Among the bad and vulgar words people usually say are the following:
  1. Ekwensu, which means Satan.
  2. Onye ala, which means mad person.
  3. Rie nsi, cursing somebody to eat faeces.
  4. Eke tigbue gi, let python strike you to death.
  5. Moto gbuchie gi ezi, let vehicle kill you on the road.
